Book review

I want to start reviewing books. I just thought about it; I read very much and I do a little bit of writing. I have tried my hands across the major genre and I feel book review cuts across all types of genre and it's a sub class of its own.
It creates efficiency by letting readers know what to expect before delving into a literary piece. It is akin to the independent review the auditor provides over the financial statement of a company even when the company has qualified CPA in its payroll. I enjoin all of you to take up an hobby which you devote quality time to- it is worth it.

Hermann wouk book review

Have you read Hermann wouk's books, 'The Wind of War' and 'War and Remembrance'? If you have not please do. The former is part 1 and the later is part 2, the books are pacy fictions set in the 2nd world war, but it deals with human relationships and not the battle per se. The works are sure to change your perception of the world positively and make you a better person. It is a must read for all because you are sure to find a model.

Railway in Africa: A Nigerian Dilemma

In Nigeria, as in other African nations, the train has been neglected. Railway plays an important part in any country's progress. It helps in bringing large tonnes of goods from the hinterland to the port for export and the reverse movement of imported goods to the hinterland. All these at a fraction of the cost of using heavy duty road trailers. Railway was the right hand fellow of the industrial revolution.
Rail way also increases internal trade and intercourse of cultures in a nation. It helps reduce congestion of roads especially in African nations with poor infrastructure. It reduces depreciation of other transport facilities like roads and the wastage of lives and luggages associated with over use of road.
Railway is cleaner for the environment and the use of modern railway as a major transport means, with tram, will reduce the incidence of urban slum since people can come from the suburb or other neighbouring towns, for instance at a distance of 100km, to work in big African cities.

Re Branding Nigeria

When Nigeria's Dora Akunyili brought up the idea of 'rebranding Nigeria' I saw that the dog that wants to die doesn't adhere to its master's call.
There has to be better social, legal and political system in this country,instead of wasting money doing plastic for an internal injury. Just look at our railway system. It is in shambles and the few existing trains are a relic of the slow moving colonial system. Akunyili resign before it is too late and retain your name even though power is sweet.

Personal economic meltdown

When the world's economy fell into a doldrum, no African,especially yours sincerely, felt he would be affected by it. The major reason was that Africa wasn't integrated into the world's economy. However, the meltdown started and all you hear in the streets is that the value of dollar has increased with respect to Naira(Nigeria's local currency) and so the price of goods has skyrocketed. That is by the wayside; the real issue is that I am in debt; I have borrowed more than what I earn and so I have a deficit account. My advice to those like me is, work harder in office because the net income of the world's economy is a factor of the aggregate quantity and quality of labour.
